The Centennial HS Orchestra is the mastery orchestra of the school. The members of this performance group are the main representatives and ambassadors to prospective students interested in joining the Centennial Orchestra, displaying exemplary qualities of musicianship, dedication, and commitment.
This group perform concerts outside the classroom setting, whether it is for school functions or in the community. This group is for the exceptionally committed. Students audition for this orchestra during the second semester of the school year in order to participate in the following school year. If chosen, students are EXPECTED to attend rehearsals AND performances when scheduled.
The Centennial Philharmonic Orchestra consist of students who have played for at least three (3) years, one of those years being in a high school orchestra ensemble. This non-audition ensemble consists of student musicians who enjoy the opportunity to perform with an orchestra without a seriously committing.
Rising ninth graders are permited to perform with this orchestra if the successfully pass an audition during the spring semester of their eighth grade year.
Members of the CHS Philharmonic Orchestra are still required to raise the bar of performance, display musicianship and be an example to inexperienced musicians and help them become young, appreciative musicians like themselves.
The Centennial Concert Orchestra consists of majority ninth grade students and upperclassmen who want to gradually enhance their musical skills and technique. In this orchestra, students are introduced or reintroduced to advanced musical skills and technique of the String Orchestra. CHS Concert Orchestra students learn the basic skills and techniques in order to perform more technical and advance to orchestral literature.
